Newspapers across the country are tapping into different mediums to produce revenue streams lost by declining advertising sales and circulation. One possibility for revenue recovery is Internet radio, which has gained popularity in the last couple of years.

SignOnSanDiego, the virtual arm of The San Diego Union-Tribune, launched its online radio station, AmplifySD, about a year ago on the Web site, www.amplifysd. signonsandiego.com/. While it's still too early to calculate its total economic impact, the Internet station, which features local bands, is expected to produce a windfall for SignOnSanDiego and its parent company.
