A new book by Fleet Admiral Ivan Kapitanets, Strong Navy--Strong Russia, (1) is off the presses.

The author is one of the merited heads of the navy and a member of the brilliant postwar constellation of Soviet fleet commanders and major naval chiefs, who helped to bring into existence our oceangoing missile-carrying fleet. It is under their leadership that the Soviet Union's Navy achieved, by the mid-1980s, the peak of its combat might, emerging as second in the world after the U.S. Navy in the number of carriers and their combat capabilities.
