Oct. 10--An apparent freak accident claimed the life of a toddler Tuesday afternoon in Jim Thorpe, the Lehigh County coroner said.
Austin Lawrence, 21 months old, of 111 Birch Drive, was pronounced dea d about 4:10 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Coroner Scott Grim said. He said an autopsy is scheduled for today.
Austin was with his mother, who was trying to put him in a car seat in the back of her van Tuesday at their home , Grim said. The boy somehow slipped into the front seat of the van and his mother tried to pull him back to strap him in when the van shifted into gear, Grim said. It is not clear whether the engine was ...
