Oct. 10--A special moose hunt in Chugach State Park designed to reduce over-browsing and moose starvation may end next week, according to Alaska Department of Fish and Game area biologist Rick Sinnott.
The hunt was scheduled to last two months -- or until 30 bull moose had been culled from the upper Ship Creek area east of Fort Richardson. Nearly half of the target harvest has already been met, Sinnott said Tuesday.
"We're expecting to hit the limit after this weekend," he said.
About 350 Alaskans registered for the hunt, which began Oct. 1.
During the first week, hunters reported killing 11 bulls and one cow. The cow was shot ...
