Oct. 10--The amazing and emotional yearlong globe-trotting journey is one Jan Householder didn't make alone.

Neither she nor her brigade of buddies needed a passport.

And the beauty of it is that Householder's "Giving Doll" pilgrimage is ongoing.

The Giving Dolls are part of a handmade, soft-sculpture doll ministry with the noble goal of healing hurting children critically ill, abandoned, abused or missing a Mommy or Daddy who is serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.

I dropped in on Householder earlier this week at the Wadsworth Center for Older Adults, where she was celebrating the completion of the 1,000th doll.
