Renton happy to be Target's new target.

Oct. 10--Employees refer to it as Renton T-2290, because it's the 2,290th opening for Minneapolis-based Target. But when T-2290 opens Sunday, it will be the first to begin doing business at The Landing, a 68-acre development at the southern tip of Lake Washington in Renton that is still mostly under construction.

Target will soon be joined by PetSmart and Staples stores, an LA Fitness gym, and restaurants and cafes including Starbucks and Red Robin.

The Landing eventually will have 600,000 square feet of retail space -- about a third more than Seattle's University Village -- a 14-screen movie theater and nearly 900 apartment units, making it ...
