Convention center growth questioned.

Oct. 10--While San Jose officials are preparing for a major expansion of the McEnery Convention Center, a report released Tuesday by the city auditor says bigger may not be better and suggests what the aging facility needs is not more square footage, but effective management.

The 125-page McEnery center performance assessment was produced by Kai-yan Lee for the city auditor's office and completed for his master's thesis in public policy at Harvard University and in city planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
