Oct. 10--Some actors perform David Mamet's plays the way the playwright likes, with a formal emphasis on the poetically profane language. Others make the plays seem more natural -- and some of us prefer it that way, whatever Mr. Mamet thinks.

The production of Glengarry Glen Ross the Dallas Theater Center opened on Tuesday strikes a happy medium. Director David Kennedy slightly favors the more abstract approach, but that doesn't prevent the performers from connecting with the audience. Every four-letter word provokes a laugh, thanks to the timing of all that juicy, salty dialogue.
