Girl testifies how mom scalded brother: A 9-year-old testified Tuesday in the murder trial of her mother, who is accused of killing her little brother.

Oct. 10--Three-year-old Jaquez Mason tried to escape a bathtub of scalding water as his mother held him down, crying as she pushed him into the water by his shoulders, his 9-year-old sister testified Tuesday.

Demerasia Stevenson, 7 at the time, recalled that her mother, Valerie Kennedy, whom she calls "Ms. Kennedy," put her brother in the tub after he soiled his diaper. It was Christmas 2005.

"He wanted to get out," said Demerasia, testifying in her mother's first-degree murder trial.

The little girl watched her brother's agony from the doorway.

'He said, 'It's hot,' " said Demerasia, struggling to find her words.
