BRIEF: Ex-mayor faces perjury charge in state investigation.

Oct. 10--Former Parkland Mayor Robert Marks was charged with misdemeanor perjury Monday by the State Attorney's Office.

Investigators said Marks was using his position on the City Commission to get more work for his janitorial company by approving contracts for one of Florida's largest developers.

Marks could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was investigating the connection Marks' janitorial company, ACT Janitorial Services, had with the major developer, WCI Communities.
