Oct. 10--DUNDEE TOWNSHIP -- The Kane County Forest Preserve District has officially set its sights on buying the largest remaining tract of privately owned open land on the Fox River, a 741-acre estate in far northeastern Dundee Township.
District officials voted without dissent Tuesday to authorize the negotiated purchase of the so-called Brunner property, a compilation of 18 parcels between the west bank of the Fox and Illinois Highway 31. A land trust controlled by Chicago-area industrialist Fred Brunner has owned the property since the 1940s, said Forest Preserve Commission President John Hoscheit (R-St. Charles).
