Oct. 10--Wastewater from a beef packing plant being built south of Aberdeen could be used to irrigate area fields.
That's what would happen if a plan presented to Brown County commissioners on Tuesday is ultimately approved by a host of government officials.
As much as 400 million gallons of wastewater a year could be pumped underground from the plant site to holding ponds, where it would be aerated and pumped to fields to provide water for crops, said John Reis, an engineer from Elk Point who helped present the Northern Beef Packers-sponsored plan to the commission.
