Oct. 10--The San Joaquin Valley falls behind the rest of California and the nation in earnings, employment, education, roads, pollution and health care. It's unfair.
It's un-Californian. Social equity should be inherent in a progressive state. But state government, dominated by urban interests, often neglects this region.
This region also neglects itself. Its culture spurns higher education and the urbanism necessary to retain its best and brightest. And various Valley governments have not worked together.
