Oct. 10--A $1.5 million settlement is ending a long-running dispute over the value of 1.1 acres at a medical complex on Warwick Boulevard.
The property in question is the front portion of driveway, parking lot and entrances that the Virginia Department of Transportation wants as part of its land and easement acquisitions so Warwick Boulevard can be widened from four to six lanes.
VDOT has agreed to pay Dr. Sarah Forbes the $1.5 million, Forbes and her attorney confirmed. But she doesn't think she's hit the jackpot.
"They're taking a lot of property," Forbes said. "No, not just property. They're taking a crown jewel."
