Bush faces off against Texas: Mexican national who raped and killed could escape death penalty.

Oct. 10--A decision by the International Court of Justice is pitting President George W. Bush against Texas, the state he formerly governed.

Bush, who as governor of Texas presided over 152 executions, wants to stop the execution of Jose Ernesto Medellin.

Medellin, a Mexican national, was given the death penalty after being convicted of raping, beating and stomping to death two teenage girls in Houston in 1993 along with five other gang members.
