Oct. 10--Costly legal disputes left over from the $12 million sewer-
installation project in downtown Olympia six years ago went before the state Supreme Court on Tuesday.
The legal issue is whether the city of Olympia and the LOTT Alliance waived terms of a contract that could leave the agencies liable for cost overruns by one contractor.
LOTT provides sewer service to the region, and the cost dispute arose from sewer-line installations in 2000-01.
Contractor Katspan Inc. of Kirkland went bankrupt, and its successor, American Safety Casualty Insurance Co., sought a $767,995 contract adjustment. Katspan's insurer stepped in to ...
