Local sports glance: Kings spike Sidewinders.

Oct. 10--SAN LUIS -- The Kofa volleyball team held off San Luis in three hard-fought sets Tuesday night 25-16, 25-22 and 26-24.

San Luis had set point in Game 3, but the Kings came back to take the next three points and the match.

"We played with them the whole way, we just didn't execute at the end," San Luis coach Darcy Wilson said.

Deana Lopez paced the Sidewinders with three kills, a block and three service aces.

Kofa was led by setter Amber Rouse's 20 assists and five aces. Randi Anderson pitched in a team-high seven kills, while Brenda Velarde added 21 digs.

"They played scrappy defense," Kofa coach Lindy Scripps-Hoekstra said of San Luis.
