Oct. 10--A St. Paul developer is planning a gourmet grocery store selling beer and wine at a Highland intersection -- sparking concern from business owners about the competition, and among neighbors fearing increased traffic and a markedly changed view from their front doors.
The plan also has the Highland and nearby Macalester-Groveland neighborhoods buzzing with speculation that the grocer could be Trader Joe's, the fast-expanding chain known for cheap organic and specialty products and $3 wine.
But developer Stuart Simek said he doesn't have a letter of intent from Trader Joe's or any other grocer. Simek owns much of the land where the ...
