Lakeville mother charged; prosecutors say she shopped on Internet while baby drowned in bathtub: She shopped online for shoes while kids bathed, police say.

Byline: Frederick Melo

Oct. 10--A Lakeville mother allegedly was surfing the Internet for new shoes when her 11-month-old daughter drowned in an upstairs bathtub.

Katherine Renae Bodem, 38, told authorities she put her daughter Cecilia into the bathtub with her 2 1/2-year-old son for a couple of minutes while she went downstairs to use the computer.

But a forensic examination of her computer showed various Web sites and search engines related to shoes had been accessed for 19 minutes before the 911 call.

On Tuesday, the Dakota County attorney's office charged Bodem with two counts of second-degree manslaughter in connection with the Aug. 25 drowning.
