Oct. 10--A 15-member delegation from the Keys returned home from a trip to Washington, D.C., last week with the feeling they made great strides in the effort to secure sewer funding for the Keys.

The group, which included representatives from Ocean Reef to Key West, met with U.S. senators Bill Nelson and Mel Martinez and U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, among others.

The visit was centered around an effort to convince the Bush Administration to include $29 million in the fiscal year 2008-09 budget for the Army Corps of Engineers to address environmental concerns with the Keys' nearshore waters and coral reefs.
