Oct. 10--Habitat for Humanity of Key West & the Lower Florida Keys has been recognized by the international organization as one of the most productive chapters in the United States for its 2006 work in the wake of Hurricane Wilma.
Since Hurricane Wilma hit the Keys Oct. 24, 2005, the Lower Keys chapter, with the help of more than 450 volunteers, has repaired about 110 homes, said Susan Miller, volunteer and events coordinator. Thirty-five of those repairs were completed in 2006.
