Mayoral vote is in a month: Charter change moves the date from March.

Oct. 10--Marathon Mayor Chris Bull says he hopes it will be nothing more than a formality, but due to changes in the wording of the city charter, the City Council in November will go through the process of selecting a mayor and vice mayor.

The change came about following the council's April enactment of an ordinance changing the date of city elections from March to November to coincide with county, state and national elections. The ordinance followed a nearly 58 percent voter approval of the change, which appeared as a nonbinding referendum on last year's ballots.
