Early surge holds up for DC: No. 24 Panthers eliminate rival Apollo, 2-0.

Oct. 10--The Daviess County High School boys' soccer team came out firing on Tuesday night.

The 24th-ranked Panthers scored twice in the first 30 minutes and went on to defeat rival Apollo 2-0 in the semifinals of the 6th District Soccer Tournament at Deer Park Elementary School.

Daviess County (13-4-1) advances to play Owensboro for the title at 8 p.m. Thursday at Shifley Park.

"The first 15 minutes or so we were really on our game," DCHS coach Doug Sandifer said. "We were aggressive, we attacked the openings, and we finished a couple of plays.
