Oct. 10--Just months after it opened, all that was left of Adobe Salad Works in the Roanoke City Market building last week was a gaping hole.
No longer can we choose our own salad greens or circle chickpeas and hearts of palm on the little order form. No longer can we leave the counter with as healthful a lunch as we can will ourselves to eat.
Before Adobe, there was Grassroots Deli, where customers could also build their own salads. But it closed, too, and I've lately been pondering the loss of fast, healthful lunch options downtown.
