Hired investigators: City paid outside investigator $2,000.

Oct. 10--The City of Odessa has paid $2,000 to a private company that investigates employment claims, according to a purchase order and invoice released in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

The OA filed a request Friday asking for any payments from the City of Odessa to any investigators hired by the city to look into any allegations of wrongdoing by any public official. The city released the information Tuesday.

The FOI request was sent in connection with the announcement that City Attorney Larry Long had been suspended 30 days. City officials have been mum about the unpaid suspension since Thursday.
