'He made everyone laugh': Students remember athlete.

Oct. 10--The halls of Odessa High were somber today, a day after the death of 18-year-old Joseph Salazar.

The senior was killed Monday in a motorcycle accident in the parking lot of the UTPB softball park.

"In cross country practice, nobody said a word while we were stretching," senior Lacey McKinney said. McKinney was on the cross-country team with Salazar.

"I think the coaches are trying to be strong for us; if they're sad, then everyone will be sad," McKinney said. "They're trying to help us through this."

Teachers say classes have been quiet as everyone is dealing with the shock of Salazar's death.
