Up in smoke: Morning fire destroys business.

Oct. 10--WEST ODESSA Flames ripped through a metal building this morning, but the heavy blaze sparked different emotions from those standing around the structure.

The fire, which started about 9 a.m. at Bar-Den Overnite Express, 4809 W. 42nd St., was the first time some rookie Odessa firefighters battled big flames.

It also was the first time the Jones family experienced such a devastating blow -- losing the freight delivery business that they've owned for the past seven years.

"This is everything to our family -- it's everything we've built up," Bobby Jones, employee and son of owner Toni Jones, said.
