Oct. 10--ATLANTIC BEACH -- Challengers in the Atlantic Beach municipal election swept all the town legislative positions, taking the mayor's seat and five council seats from incumbents, according to Tuesday night's unofficial results.
A.B. "Trace" Cooper won the mayor's seat by a 405 to 256 vote, defeating Joyce "Tootsie" Vinson in her bid for re-election to a second term.
Cooper said sitting on the town council isn't an easy task and commended the incumbents for the work they did. After months of campaigning and listening to the issues important to the residents, Cooper said it will now be the new board's turn to respond to those ...
