Tattooed fish illegal in Oklahoma City; dye baths OK.

Oct. 10--Red fish, blue fish.

Dyed fish, no more tattooed fish.

A controversy that began with "I love you" tattooed on a tropical fish ended Tuesday with a compromise that will keep a pet supplier in business as long as he keeps the needles away from his aquariums.

The Oklahoma City Council voted 7-1 to change a law barring the artificial coloring of fish. Tattooing and injecting dye into fish will be illegal, but other forms of coloring, including dye baths, will be OK.
