Oct. 10--Turns out: Rowing is hard.
I'd never rowed before, but a few weeks ago I joined our company rowing team on a whim. I figured we practice a bit, row in the Oklahoma Centennial Regatta this week and call it a day. Apparently, coordinating an eight-person team to gracefully row a 60-foot boat for 500 meters is a little tougher than I thought.
Rowing takes timing, coordination, patience and practice. All I have is timing.
At our first practice, I was beyond disappointed when our coach, Amy Bellman, said we couldn't get in a boat. Bellman is shorter than me, which is pretty short, and could beat me up. She's one tough cookie. She ...
