WORCESTER - On the heels of the City Council's vote requesting the city's retirement system to divest from companies doing business in Sudan, a local anti-war group is looking to bring another international issue before the council.
Worcester Peace Works has filed a petition with the city clerk's office, asking the City Council to adopt a resolution calling for an end to the war in Iraq.
Richard Schmitt, of 65 Tory Fort Lane, who filed the petition on behalf of Worcester Peace Works, said the resolution the council is being asked to consider is similar to one passed by the Massachusetts Senate in March.
