NEW YORK -- After a year or so of slumbering, the moderate handbag business is showing signs of life.
While the handbag category as a whole has been on a roll for quite some time now, the moderate segment of the business, centered in department stores with retail price points that stretch mostly from $20 to $60, has been struggling. While executives won't give specifics, several admit figures have been off.
