In early September, Micah Owings had to wonder if his place in the Arizona's starting rotation was gone for the season.
Coming off two disastrous starts, the rookie right-hander temporarily was dropped from the Diamondbacks rotation. With Arizona taking aim at the National League West crown, manager Bob Melvin understandably was hesitant to give the ball back to Owings after two worrisome starts early in September.
