Pembroke, ON -- In July Pope Benedict appointed Msgr. Michael Mulhall, 45, as Bishop of Pembroke. Msgr. Mulhall was the Vicar-General of the diocese of Peterborough, ON. He served as an official of the Congregation for Oriental Churches in Rome from 1994 to 2002, when he returned to his native city of Peterborough. Pembroke has a Catholic population of 67,000 faithful, with 60 priests, six deacons, 165 religious sisters and brothers, serving 58 parishes.
