THE handmade sign on a bus stop in Debenham may have boasted that it was just ten stops from Wembley before the game, but by 5pm on Saturday it was the Hornets' time to get off the FA Cup bus.
AFC Wimbledon, backed by their large travelling support who created their own Henman Hill on a bank behind one of the goals, proved to be too strong on the day for a Debenham side that play three levels lower than them in the non-League pyramid.
Proud Hornets manager Mel Aldis praised his players' never-say-die attitude after the game and pinpointed the Dons' superior strength as the determining factor that denied his team a giant-killing.
