THE Grand Turk sailed back into Whitby earlier this week but the much-loved ship is saying bon-voyage to its leader.
Ian Macdougal, who has been captain of the Grand Turk for 12 years, is leaving the ship to become Whitby's dredger master.
He starts his new role on Monday and said although he is sad to leave the Grand Turk, it is the right thing to do considering the ship's uncertain future.
The Grand Turk, which arrived back in Whitby on Monday and is due to stay until April or May, was put up for sale at the beginning of the year.
