ISRAEL, LIKE MANY WESTERN SOCIETIES, has witnessed the massive entry of women into the labor market in recent decades, with a particularly substantial rise in the proportion of married women working outside of the home (Izraeli, 1999). Studies have shown that regardless of age, race, ethnicity, or marital status, women spend more time on household tasks than do men (Bergen, 1991; Blair, 1993; Demo & Acock, 1993; Word, 1993).
