A police crackdown has significantly reduced the number of burglaries in Leigh.
The ongoing initiative, codenamed Operation Heritage, began in August and has so far seen a drop of nearly 20 per cent in the number of offences compared to the four week period before it started.
To achieve this result, dedicated officers have maintained a high-visibility presence in crime hotspots and tracked the movements of the most prolific offenders.
Warning letters have also been sent to those suspected of being involved in burglary to tell them that they are under surveillance and that police are
