A RETIRED heating engineer died from an industrial-related cancer after being exposed to asbestos in ventilation units and corridors during his working career.
James Pickering (73), of Goodwins Road, Lynn, was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma after being admitted to a hospital in Lewisham, London, on May 18, complaining of a shortness of breath and coughs.
His condition deteriorated over the following days and he was transferred to the hospital's coronary care unit. Biopsy results then revealed a history of malignant mesothelioma.
