Envisioning a "nightmarish" future in which the federal court system buckles under the weight of unmanageable caseloads, a committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States has proposed sweeping changes that presumably would rescue the federal courts from collapse in the next century.
The 150-page report lists 98 recommendations for limiting federal jurisdiction, assessing the costs of litigation, and efficiently managing the courts' day-to-day business.
A draft of the proposed plan was released for public comment in November, and ATLA responded with comments on recommendations of interest to members. A final version of the plan is expected to be ...
