The Food Standards Agency should establish a national telephone hotline to encourage whistle blowers to report cases of food fraud, according to a group set up to investigate the problem.

The Food Fraud Task Force also called for the authorities to appoint a rapid response food fraud investigation team to help investigate major incidents.

Among other offences, food fraud includes passing off one product as another and the sale of food not fit for human consumption.
