Two further submissions have been received by Longford Co Council in relation to the controversial planning application involving the demolition of the historically significant Rose Cottage in Ballinalee.
The cottage was the headquarters for the North Longford Flying Column under the leadership of General Sean MacEoin during the famed Battle of Ballinalee in 1920. The proposed application from the Longford based company Midland Housing Ltd seeks to demolish the cottage at St Johnstown town land and to provide 10 single storey dwellings in its place.
