PAVAROTTI had one of the best voices of his generation, says the musical director of Scarborough Spa Orchestra.
Jeremy Fisher, who is also an opera and musical theatre vocal coach, was one of several local performers who paid tribute to the legendary Italian tenor who died yesterday aged 71.
Baritone John Mitchell, who was managing director of John Mitchell Office Equipment in Falsgrave but who is now retired, missed out on a chance to see Pavarotti in Hanover for his 60th birthday after the show was cancelled due to illness.
Mr Mitchell said: "I admire him as being the world's best tenor. He had that special something."
