MELROSE Abbey is to be the historic setting for the funeral of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry KT, who died this week aged 83.
The duke had been receiving treatment at Borders General Hospital, but had returned to his Bowhill House home outside Selkirk, and it was here he died peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
He will be buried near his late father in the picturesque abbey grounds, on Tuesday of next week.
Back in October, 1973, when the duke's father was buried at the abbey, more than 3,000 mourners attended the service.
