TOP Brechin marksman Iain Russell has left the club in a [pounds sterling]40,000 deal with Morton.
The fan favourite made the switch to the full-time division one outfit in the days before last Saturday's Cowdenbeath clash.
The news is quite a blow for City, who have benefited from his prolific goal-scoring talents on many occasions since he joined the club in May 2006.
Last year's second division player of the year had also hit the ground running this campaign, with no less than six goals to his name at the time of his transfer.
