A CONTROVERSIAL call for [pounds sterling]1,000 of Louth Town Council money to be awarded to a children's group has been refused.
Coun John Gains suggested the bumper four figure pay out should be made to cash strapped 2nd Louth Brownies.
Explaining his reasoning, he said: "They need it - they're in dire trouble."
It emerged during the finance and general purposes committee meeting the Brownies were one of more than a score of social and charity organisations to have approached the council for cash support.
