Two pilots from a West Yorkshire flying club have been arrested after [pounds sterling]2.5m worth of cocaine was found on board their light aircraft.
Stephen Jackson, a director at Sherburn Aero Club, near Leeds, and learner pilot Leon Franklin had their plane raided by detectives as it was taxiing for take-off from an airstrip in Belgium bound for Sheffield.
The pair are being held in Belgium after officers discovered almost 27kgs of cocaine hidden beneath bottles of beer in cardboard boxes inside the aircraft. It is believed the drugs were destined for the English market.
