For Marion Martinez, making art also is about making a statement.
The Glorieta, N.M.-based artist's medium is considered by some to be electronic waste. But she recycles used circuit boards into functional pieces such as money clips and necklaces and artwork that ranges from the whimsical to pieces with religious themes.
"It's really looking at what has been discarded in this fast communications highway that we're in,'' Martinez said. "We leave so much behind in this technological world.''
In addition to circuit boards, Martinez said she incorporates wood and other organic materials.
