A CELEBRATION of unique island culture is due to take place in 2009/10 and could bring a major economic boost to the Isles.
Instigated by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's disappointment with the opportunities during Highland Year of Culture 2007, the idea to create an island based event is currently being explored with Orkney and Shetland councils.
The programme would be built around culture, heritage and Gaelic and would create new events and activities in partnership with communities, local organisations and cultural bodies.
