When the International Telecommunications Union gave its final. blessing to the V.34 standard last September, two of the major manufacturers of chipsets supporting the standard - AT&T Microelectronics and Rockwell Telecommunications - were poised to act. Both companies were out quickly with firmware that made their DSP-based chipsets fully compliant with the ITU-T V.34 28.8-kbps standard.
